Impregnation Reincarnation Adventurer ep023. Important Objective Roll

The entrance to the Mara dungeon was discovered under the rubble by a scavenger working as a fireman at the old cathedral in the old city district on top of the hill. The front of the cathedral was a plaza with a large fountain, and in the center of the fountain stood a statue of some kind. We don’t know what statue it was because it has crumbled away now.

It was the golden age called Dungeon Rush The town was built around this cathedral, by reusing the plaza with ample space and surrounding abandoned houses. The restaurant was apparently crowded with adventurers looking for dungeons and customers looking for them.

But now, it’s just a shadow of its former self.

The town has become desolate due to the lack of attractive products and sluggish demand, probably followed the footsteps of the abandoned city of Mara, and also became the desolate ghost town that it is today.

One of those buildings is a solid stone structure.

Unlike other places, this magnificent structure had the atmosphere of life. It seems like there are still adventurers who like to visit this place They seem to use this place as the base of operations in turns.

I knocked on the door, made sure that there is no response, and put my hand on the door-not the front, but the back door. I checked the windows and doors and slowly peeked inside through one of the unlocked ones.

「 Hmmm 」

There doesn’t seem to be anyone

I bring out the picking tool from the tool belt wrapped around my thigh and quickly removed the lock. It’s a skill I had no connection with in my previous life, but now I’m familiar with it. This one’s a simple lock that I can do even with my eyes closed. I can’t see inside to begin with so the difficulty won’t change even if you close your eyes, but that’s not the point.

I gently pushed the door to check the weight. I knocked with my fingertips.

「 There don’t seem to be any traps. 」

I judged, and so I opened the door while hiding behind the wall.

I waited for a few seconds to make sure nothing was happening and looked inside.

I bring my face to the floor and checked for footprints. There are several footprints and no particular regularity. So there are probably no traps inside.

「 Okay, we can go in 」

「 You haven’t changed 」

Marie said with a little amazed look.

「 It’s just my method, I’d rather not die on some boring booby trap 」

「 Didn’t you already conclude that there were no traps from the start? 」

「 That’s the reason why I didn’t neglect 」

I retorted back to Marie’s disappointed tone.

One second of caution is a lifetime of injury. The worst thing you can do is think that you’re safe because it’s the same as always

We can’t be sure of everything, so we have to discard the risks, but if we have time like now, we want to reduce the risk to zero as much as possible. That’s the mindset I have when working. Otherwise, my weak self wouldn’t have survived.

「 Marie, don’t let your guard down. We have no idea why these guys disappeared. It could’ve been an accident during their adventure, or they were attacked by some powerful monster in the dungeon, a trap, or even a dispute between the nobleman and adventurer. You need to take caution always 」

「 Yes, sure 」

Marie looks a little fed up when I gave her the same warning as before.

She quickly pulls an eyeglass case from the breast pocket of her jacket, takes out the silver-rimmed glasses, and puts them on elegantly brushing her hair with her pinky finger.

It’s not that Marie’s blind.

That’s her magic tool, an aid for tracing magic that drifts through space. I heard that even with her naked eye, she’s able to sense magic to some extent, but she can perceive it more clearly when looking through her glasses. The fact that she can follow traces of magic means she can also pick up information we can’t see.

In short, that’s her true value.

「 Let’s hurry. We still might make it, I trust you 」

She assures me and steps into the room with her dignified profile.

She looks at every corner of the room, examining shelves and tables.

「 Trust, huh 」

That unexpected timing of her heavy words left me confused.

She says that we might make it.

She’s given up at some point. But on the other hand, she wants them alive.

When I was at a party with them, the first thing I taught them was first-aid, and how to secure a safe space. I’m an adventurer specializing in survival. I always tell that first to any newcomer who works with me. If you live, then you can challenge it again.

Marie kept her mouth shut for a moment, perhaps, she wanted to say that “everyone else too” The friends I once partied with still trusts me. That’s probably what she meant.

「 Right, I’m sure those guys are still alive. 」

She squeezed out the words she never spoke.

I want that too. Marie and I wish that from the bottom of our hearts. And if they’re still alive, we want to help them as soon as possible.

It took us five days to get here.

If we add the time the guild found out about the situation and sent us a request, half a month has passed since they disappeared.

In my previous life, it would’ve certainly been over the deadline, but adventurers in this world have a great deal of life force. Especially those in silver ranks, combined with their high level of activity, they can work for a while without sleep or rest. Assuming that they’re not killed by a vicious monster and that they are fully prepared for the adventure, there might be a small chance, but only a small one.

I swallow up my unease.

It’s precisely at times like this that we shouldn’t rush.

「 We have to do what we can 」

I quickened my pace while persuading myself.

The results of investigating the shed may have been greater than expected.

As expected, they seem to have dived into the dungeon multiple times using this place as the base of operations.

We found the sleeping quarters, dishes for a few numbers, backpacks where they stored food, and extra tools. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything like a journal, but I was able to find proof by having Marie check the hair left on the bed. There seems to have no doubt that the party we’re searching for was using this hut.

「 As expected, something happened in the dungeon 」

「 Zaryu 」

「 We’re not turning back yet. We’re going to dive into the dungeon ourselves. We’ll follow their trail, but if we run into any kind of danger, we’ll retreat

「 Okay 」

Marie nodded deeply after taking a deep breath.

I took small breaths too.

「 Let’s go to the dungeon 」

I carried the burden and said.

We still have no idea what lies ahead.
