Training Dungeons (1)

“Okay, I will explain the rules to you now. First, you can be inside only for six hours. They will give you a clock before entering so you can know when to leave. Second, you can only bring your clothes inside and you can’t take anything out. The weapons you need will be supplied by the staff outside the dungeon. Third, if you find anything strange inside, you must notify the staff immediately. That is all.”

“Simple enough.”

“Good luck. This is a good opportunity, don’t waste it.”

I nodded. I don’t plan to.

Although Mary treated it as though it was nothing, I know how valuable the entrance to a dungeon of this kind is. Rich people will not mind paying millions to get a spot.

It must have cost her a lot to get me this place.

She did not mention it, though, and I did not mention it either. However, I will keep this favor in my heart.

After Mary finished explaining the details of the dungeon, I asked the demon if it was alright to increase my mana this way.

[Normally, increasing your mana using this method is not advisable, however, your talent with mana is trash, so it doesn’t really matter. Just make use of this opportunity.]

Well, you don’t have to remind me about my trash-level talent.

Just at that moment, the woman that received us appeared again.

“Boy, it’s your turn already. Are you ready?”

I nodded.

“Very well, follow me.”

The woman then led me toward the location of the dungeon. Soon, I could feel the mana disturbance caused by the dungeon.

When we arrived at the dungeon, a man at a desk stopped us.

“Name, age, and cellphone, and Awakened rank.”

I hurriedly gave him my information. The man then input it into a laptop before giving me a plastic bracelet.

“Take this. Make sure to not lose it, otherwise, the staff could confuse you with an intruder.”

I nodded, then, I continued following the woman.

Finally, we arrived in front of the entrance of the dungeon. The woman then pointed to a rack with weapons and asked me to take one.

I grabbed a spear similar to the one I normally use without hesitating.

“Good. Now we only need to wait for the person inside to come out and you can go in.”

I nodded and stood in front of the dungeon patiently.

Five minutes later, I felt a slight mana fluctuation coming from the dungeon. Immediately, the figure of a young girl materialized in front of us.

The young girl was quite pretty, but her face had a gloomy expression and she exuded a sickly atmosphere. She gave the impression of being ill for a long time.

[Hou. What an interesting girl.] The demon murmured in my mind.

‘What do you mean?’ I asked curiously, however, the demon just chuckled and did not reply.

The girl glanced at us before walking away. Strangely, she seemed like she was avoiding us.

Her strange behavior only made me more curious.

Unfortunately, the girl left as though she was running away, so I could not satisfy my curiosity.

“Okay, boy. You can go in now.” The woman said indifferently. “Remember, you have only six hours. You must leave when the time in the watch is over.”

I nodded and stepped forward, entering the dungeon.

Immediately, the scenery around me changed completely.

What appeared before my eyes was a swamp covered with tall grass. The sound of running water could be heard from the distance, and the dim light of the dungeon gave a comfortable feeling.

At first glance, this place did not seem like a dangerous dungeon but a peaceful park.

However, that peaceful impression disappeared in the next instant.

*Chirp!*

A small bird rushed towards me while using its beak to attack me. Its bloodthirsty eyes looked at me as though it wanted to drink my blood.

It attacked so suddenly that I barely managed to notice it.

Instinctively, I leaned aside and swung my spear, hitting the bird and killing it instantly.

The next instant, I felt a strand of energy entering my body.

“This is… Mana?”

I was surprised. Just now, I felt my mana increasing slightly.

Although the increase was almost unnoticeable, it was a fact that my mana increased.

To someone like me, whose mana doesn’t increase in the slightest even after a whole day of training, this is amazing.

“So this is why training dungeons are so valuable, huh.”

The bird I killed just now was barely a tier-zero monster. Even a child could kill it.

But just by killing that small bird, my mana increased by a small amount.

Then, what if I kill a tier two or tier three monster?

Just thinking of how much my mana will increase filled me with excitement.

[It looks like this place is better than I expected. Mm, boy, you should not waste this opportunity. Let me help you.]

Huh?

[I will use a bit of your mana. Don’t resist.]

I nodded. The demon then used a part of my mana and spread it to the surroundings.

[Good. Now go to the place that I tell you. There should be a tier-one monster two hundred meters to your right.]

I was stunned, but immediately, my eyes lit up.

“Understood.”

Without hesitating, I went to the place the demon told me.

And as expected, I saw a small alligator there.

The alligator attacked me as soon as it saw me, but I killed it with just a swing of my spear. Then, I felt the alligator’s mana enter my body.

Once I absorbed the alligator mana, the demon spoke up again.

[This time, go forward five hundred meters.]

I nodded and followed the demon’s instructions, finding another monster before long.

After killing that monster, the demon gave me a new set of instructions.

By this point, I was unable to hide my excitement.

It looks like my harvest this time is going to be much better than I expected.
