Lamia (1)

Hey, guys, Aidka’s here!

I have not posted in a few days because I have been busy with a lot of things, some of them related to the novels.
Firstly, I updated the TOCs on some pages, I also used a couple of days to modify slightly the draft for the next arc of [My Skills Are Weird] and corrected some mistakes in previous chapters.

I also changed the patronage slightly. I had not updated it in a long while, so it was already time to adjust it.

Following the new patronage, the schedule will change every month according to the number of patrons. I plan to post an announcement after the first week of each month to inform my readers of the new schedule.

For this month, the schedule of [My Skills Are Weird] will be six chapters per week, and [Science/Magic] will continue with five chapters per week.

I’m posting three chapters of each novel with this post and a couple of chapters more in 24 hours. Don’t worry, I won’t forget the chapters of last week.

Also, I finished working on the new cover for [My Skill is Weird]. You can see the cover in the page of the novel. The characters in the cover are Jane, Saphire, Scarlet (cat), and the fairy has not appeared yet (I think it’s a bit of a spoiler).

Lastly, thank you for your support and I hope you continue supporting me.

Love, Aidka~…

“Underwater?” I was surprised. “What kind of monster is it?”

[A lamia.]

A lamia, huh.

The information about this monster appeared immediately in my mind.

A half-human, half-snake monster that inhabits the world of Lyea.

Lamias live in rivers and lakes and are born with the ability to manipulate water to a great degree. Generally, lamias are tier-four monsters, however, there are records of lamias reaching tier nine.

A frown appeared on my face.

“Demon, how strong is this lamia?”

[Just tier four.]

‘Just tier four? It’s doable.’

I sighed in relief.

Although fighting a tier-four monster will be hard, it’s not impossible. When I was at the second tier, I dared to face a tier-five practitioner, so now that my tier increased to the third level, I should not have trouble defeating this lamia.

The problem is–

I looked at the lake that I did not how deep it was and frowned.

–There is no way I can fight that monster underwater.

“Then there is no other way but to force it out, huh. Any ideas, demon?”

[You just need to attack the core. The lamia is using the core to absorb mana, so it will appear if it thinks that you want to destroy it.]

I nodded.

“I understand. Let’s do it.”

The core was floating above the lake, so I sent a tickle of mana to my feet and used it to step on the water. It was a small trick that the demon taught me a few days ago.

I can’t walk on water for long using this trick, but it’s not hard to use the water as a footing a couple of times this way.

Holding my spear straight, I jumped towards the core and stabbed it.

The core trembled violently.

The spear stab was not enough to destroy the core, but I should be able to destroy it if I stab it with my spear a couple of times more.

But when I was about to thrust my spear again, a feeling of danger came from below me.

Without hesitating, I kicked the surface of the lake and jumped away.

In the next instant, a long figure jumped from below the water and attacked me.

I easily avoided the attack and twirled my spear gently before thrusting it towards the figure’s belly, but it twisted its body in an impossible way for a human and easily avoided it. Then, a long tail came from the water and attacked my back.

I moved aside and avoided the tail, jumping back to the shore of the lake. Then, I looked at the monster that attacked me.

The monster was in the lake, with its lower body below the water and its upper body above the surface. Just like the information that I learned about lamias stated, the monster had the upper body of a woman.

It had long hair that fell on the water and youthful features. With just a glance, she seemed like a twelve-year-old girl swimming in the lake naked.

However, her eyes were filled with hostility towards me. She was growling threateningly as her tail moved below the lake’s surface.

“So that is a lamia, huh.”

[Don’t underestimate her due to her appearance. I can feel a strong killing intent coming from her, so she must have killed a lot in her life.]

I nodded and held my spear firmly, then, I rushed towards the lamia.

My speed was so fast that I left afterimages behind me, however, the lamia was not slower than me. Before I could reach her, she swung her tail upwards, creating a wave that I did not dare to receive.

I kicked the surface of the lake and jumped over the wave. Then, I pointed my spear downwards and fell towards the lamia.

But the lamia submerged in the lake, avoiding my strike. When I was at a loss about what to do, the lamia resurfaced behind me, using her tail as a whip to go for my neck.

My reaction was instantaneous. I ducked down and evaded the tail, then, I turned around while swinging my spear to attack the lamia.

But at that moment, the water of the lake rose and formed a wall that stopped my spear.

The strange phenomenon caught me by surprise. I pulled my spear back quickly and tried to distance myself from the lamia, but to my dismay, I noticed that the lake water had entangled my feet!

The lake water was like ropes tying my feet up.

At the same time, the lamia used her tail to attack me.

‘Shit!’ I cursed inwardly, but my mind remained calm. In less than one second, my mind thought about several possible solutions before deciding on one.

“Hah!”

Roaring, I called upon the lightning inside me and sent it to my feet.

The lightning reached the water in an instant and spread to the lamia. In the next instant, the lamia screamed in pain.

“Aaaaggghhh!”

The pain made the lamia lose focus, and the water entangling my feet became turned back to normal. I knew that this was an opportunity, thus, I stepped onto the water and thrust my spear toward the lamia.

The lamia felt the danger and tried to react, but I was ready. A powerful pressure was released from my body, freezing the lamia’s movements for an instant as she put on a terrified expression.

It was Confidence’s derivate skill, Killing Aura.

Under the effects of the lightning plus killing aura, the lamia was unable to avoid the blow.

*Spurt!*

My spear pierced the lamia’s chest, right into her heart. I then released a charge of lightning inside the lamia’s body through the spear to destroy her heart completely.

Checkmate.

But just then, I saw the lamia’s tail coming towards me from the corner of my eyes.

Then–

*Bam!*

My body was sent flying. The strength of the blow was so strong that I was thrown out of the lake.

“Ugh!” I groaned in pain and rolled on the ground several times. Fortunately, I managed to react in the nick of time and created a layer of mana around me, otherwise, that attack would have broken several bones.

At that moment, I heard the sound of something cutting the wind.

“Shit!”

Without hesitating, I jumped aside. The next instant, the lamia’s tail hit the place where I was just a moment ago.

Raising my face, I saw the lamia standing on the lake shore with an angry look.

Blood was flowing out of her chest, and her body was burnt in several places due to the lightning, however, the lamia did not seem concerned about that.

But she was much angrier than before.
