Layla immediately stopped their car as soon as she found that their tires were hit. She furrowed her brows, thinking about something.

“What was that?”

Max sat up and looked outside to see what happened. He wasn’t sure what it was he heard, but he was aware that it was quite serious, seeing the solemn expression of Layla and Lydia.

“Stay down! Something or someone punctured our tires.”

“What?!”

Max quickly hid behind the door, assessing the situation they were in.

‘What is happening here? Is someone actually attacking us?’

Max thought of all possible suspects but he could only think of one.

‘Xiao Ming?’

‘There’s no way he’s this stupid right!? Does he really want to die by attacking three Awakeneds?!”

“Max, just stay down here. Don’t follow us out!”

‘Wai…’

Layla and Lydia got out after asking Max to stay down. They considered that this might be an attack and they don’t want Max to get hurt as he won’t be able to defend himself.

Closing the door, their expression got a lot serious as the entire area turned deathly silent.

They looked everywhere around them for any movements and focused on catching any sound of footsteps to know if there’s anyone in there.

They knew that they’re in the ideal position for an ambush as they were on a road outside the city without anyone near them. The darkness at night made their situation even worse.

Without warning, someone jumped onto their backs, gripping a dagger. Both of them jumped away reactively as how they were trained to.

They both trained for years, studying different combat techniques that they knew this kind of simple attack can easily be evaded by just dodging away from it.

Fixing back their position next to each other, they focused on their attacker to see who it was. The unknown guy was wearing a black mask with a set of black clothes.

They couldn’t recognize him in any way except that he had wide shoulders and a muscular body but that wasn’t helpful in any way.

The masked man looked at them for a moment then rushed straight to Lydia. He might have judged her to be the easier one but he couldn’t be more wrong about that.

The masked man ran in an unpredictable way, directly going for her neck to stab it but Lydia easily grabbed his wrist firmly with her hand.

“Arggghhhhhh!!!!”

An explosive sound of lightning rang out as purple lightning streaked out from her hands rushing straight to his arm, frying it through as the masked man cry out in pain.

The dagger fell to the ground as the man pulled his arm forcefully away from Lydia. What happened next surprised them all including Max who was peeking out from the window.

The man swiftly leaped tens of meters away from them. It was at this point that they became aware that the opponent they were currently facing was an Awakened, the same as them.

They kept their guard up as they watch for the next move he does. Lydia’s Purple Lightning showed it’s power by looking at how mangled his arm turned to be.

It was completely black, limping on his side, seemingly unresponsive. The man looked to be in so much pain as he tried to steady himself.

‘What kind of damage was that!?’

Max saw everything that happened, he watched as Lydia destroyed that man’s arm with her lightning.

‘I have that too! Would mine be that strong?’

While he was thinking about that, the guy brought out another dagger. This dagger was entirely different from the first one he used. From its appearance, it looked to be made from unknown materials as lights never reflected on it.

As he slowly backed away to blend in the dark, blood-red light shined on the surface of his dagger, giving out an eerie shine.

The masked man made it hard for them to locate him that they once again became alert, waiting for him to come out.

Max wanted to help them but he doesn’t know what to do. He was close to getting out of the car but he decided against it as he might just hold them back by splitting their attention, worrying about someone attacking him.

He recalled that he had the Weakness Reader so he used it at the guy before he disappeared in the dark. What came into his mind was the words ‘No Resistance’.

Max was confused about it, not at the definition of ‘No Resistance’ but because Little Dou said that the Weakness Reader can be upgraded to Mind Reader(Weak Version) in the future.

So he deduced that the Weakness Reader was more like finding their weakness by reading their minds like a mind reader with a limit than identifying their weakness by scanning their bodies.

‘Oh, that’s why.’

Max concluded that the guy probably knew himself that his weakness was he had no resistance that’s why he was able to know it.

But knowing he had a no resistance was useless as they probably already know it from how his arm got easily destroyed.

The masked man then suddenly appeared a few feet from their back, slicing his dagger at them with black and red light trailing behind it.

His movements were cautious, keeping a safe distance away for them. The light that came from his dagger expanded out, flying towards them but they were faster, dodging to the side.

Max watched as they repeatedly attacked each other. They moved to different areas, running and hiding while trying to hit each other in any way they can.

The entire road was a mess with long deep cuts and burns all over the place. Fortunately, there were far from the city and it was late at night that no one uses this road anymore with it being too dark.

What Max didn’t understand was why wasn’t Layla using her skill. She has a Target Charm skill and they can easily defeat one person…?

‘Were they thinking that he might have someone else with him?’

He got more vigilant at his surroundings as there was indeed the possibility that the guy wasn’t alone.

Max continued watching their every move but he can only see where they were and all the lights that were flaring out as all their moves were happening very fast.

He never trained to have a fast reaction. He doesn’t even have any idea how to fight. Max could only look at their moves with envy, wanting to try it out himself.

‘Should I just use my Purple Lightning to get this over with?

That was when a pink glow suddenly surrounded the masked man. At that exact moment, he stopped what he was doing then walked directly towards Layla in a smooth motion.

Lydia didn’t waste the opportunity, instantly hitting him with her purple lightning on his chest but the guy never stopped walking ignoring his burnt upper body.

Layla’s Target Charm stopped soon after, disappearing only a few seconds after it appeared. The masked man spat a mouthful of blood as he retreated back to the dark, severely wounded from his chest.

After a few minutes trying to find the masked man, they weren’t able to find him. Max went out of the car seeing that it was already done. Layla and Lydia also sighed in relief that nothing serious happened to them.

“Layla, behind you!”

Layla turned around and saw the masked man rapidly closed in behind her, holding a sword covered in black light. She instinctively closed her eyes as she knew that she wouldn’t be able to evade it.

But the pain she was expecting, never happened. She slowly opened her eyes to see what was going on.

“!!!”

What she saw made her horrified as tears started to well up in her eyes, couldn’t believe what she was looking at.

Chapter 21: Lily’s Reaction

No one speaks anything further and the whole room falls silent.

Zoe who just finished telling Lily that I am her rapist is also looking at Lily’s shocked expressions in a surprise.

Both me and Lily are just staring at each other as if someone has frozen our eyesight in place.

I cannot exactly tell what expressions my face is showing right now, but inside my mind, there is a hurricane of thoughts storming all over.

Why is Lily here? And now?

A-And the way Zoe spoke to her was made it seem like they had spoken before…

Don’t tell me… Lily is a part of…

No, that’s impossible. I have known and loved this girl since we were 11 and if even if that were the case somehow, why would they have asked me to forcibly rape her before?

It makes no sense to all if she was already a part of their gang! I think I can at least rule out that possibility.

Suddenly, another thought enters my mind…

Wait, they don’t want me to do it forcibly with Lily again, do they?

But if that was the case, why they let her be free to talk and look around their base this time? Shouldn’t they have just tied her up like before?

Side thoughts like these simultaneously rise in my brain, but the one which is dominating my whole mind is not these questions, but what Zoe just said.

This Zoe told her… She told Lily that I raped her…

“Caiden… You…” Lily mutters in a low voice.

Her face is completely expressionless… Like an absolute death-mask.

I don’t even know what to speak to her anymore.

And what can I even tell her? That I was forced to rape her?

Even though it’s true, will she even believe me now? After someone else has told her about this before me?

No, I don’t think she would…

Fuck! I should have told Lily when I had the chance, damn it!

I should have just…

Aargh! No point regretting over things I did in the past or should have done in the past anymore. I need to think what I have to do now…

I need to find a way to convince Lily that even though I was at fault in some way as well, but I did all those things to save her and my life at that time…

In my opinion, there is only way out of this situation right now. That is telling her the truth about what my conditions were at that time as fast as possible.

I know, I said that she probably won’t believe that… But still, she might give me time to prove my innocence…

And if I could get one of these gang women to confess that they forced me, I could use it as proof.

And I think I can probably make Emily agree to cooperate somehow…

Gathering up all my courage, I move close to Lily and speak up again-

“Lily, I… That is… I was forced—”

“You raped me?” Lily cut in-between with a low but crystal-clear voice.

But there is still not even the slightest fluctuation in her expressions.

“I… I did, but I was—”

“And you told me that you love me… just two days later?”

“I do! I did not lie! I really do love you, Lily! But I was—”

“And you even… When I was vulnerable… When I needed your support…”

“Please, Lily!  I didn’t—”

“I asked you, whom I loved, to overwrite my scariest and the worst memories… But you turned out to be the one who gave them to me…”

“Lily, just listen to me!” I say while moving my hands towards her shoulder.

“I didn’t want to—”

“DON’T TOUCH ME! YOU MONSTER!” Lily yells on top of her lungs while swatting away my hand forcefully.

Finally, her expressionless face breaks as tears start leaking down from her eyes to stream down her smooth white cheeks.

“I don’t want to ever see your face again,” she says while giving me a look filled with extreme hatred.

Suddenly, I feel strength leaving my legs…

“Lily, please, it wasn’t my fault at all! I love—”

Before I could even finish speaking, Lily puts both her hands on her face to cover it and runs out of the room while sobbing loudly…

“No! Wait! Lily!” I yell after her.

“She is your…girlfriend?” Zoe asks me in a surprised tone.

I slowly turn back to look…

Now that Lily is gone, my eyes focused on the other women standing here and I know almost all of them…

Abigale and Clara, who are the other squad leaders have an amused look on their faces. Natalie is also here and she is looking extremely angry for some reason.

Emily, who is standing beside Natalie is also not showing many reactions to this situation but well, at least she is not behaving weirdly as one would expect of her.

But my focus is not on them, but entirely on Zoe right now.

“Is she?” She asks again with a surprised tone.

“Shut up, bitch!” I yell at her.

Without waiting to see her reaction to my rudeness, I run towards the door from which Lily left earlier and exits it to enter into the corridor outside.

I look around frantically but there is no sigh on Lily here right now…

Lily… Where did you go?

I don’t know much about this place but I don’t think it’s that huge.

I need to find Lily fast… But where to start looking?

I doubt that she got to the end of the corridor and somewhere else as I should have at least seen her leaving.

That means only one thing… That she is inside one of these rooms here.

Without wasting a single second, I start opening every single door in this corridor randomly and looking inside to find any sighs of Lily there.

I try to catch the sound of sobbing as Lily was doing that just before she left the room but there are none.

A few of the rooms I try to look are locked but most of them are open with personal belongings of the person living there scattered inside…

“Damnit!  Where did she go?” I say frustratingly while quickly taking a glance inside another empty room.

“Aaargh!”

The moment I start to close the door, something grabs my hand strongly and pulls me inside the room.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, I find the face of the girl I was looking for so desperately right in front of my eyes.

Lily…

She is not crying right now unlike just a few minutes before but instead, her face is showing a great worry as she looks at me searchingly.

W-Why is Lily not crying?

“Caiden, those women didn’t follow you, did they?” Lily asks urgently.

EPILOGUE (Patreon)

Chapter 24: New System

I read the level 2 system description again, hoping that what I am seeing right now turns out to be an illusion somehow…

No… This thing can’t be true, right?

But the description doesn’t change in the slightest…

“ANOTHER FUCKING POISON!?” I yell.

Hearing my loud voice, the naked women around me wake up with a start…except Nina.

“W-What happened?” Piper asks fearfully.

This…fuck!… I am so angry right now… I just want to…

I don’t know why but I am having a sudden urge to be alone for a moment…to just get out of here.

Damn it!

““Iyaaaaan””

I push my body from the bed such that Alexa and Nina fall down from my body.

I just…need to go somewhere away from people.

I look around the room frantically trying to search for my clothes before remembering that I had taken them off outside.

“Araaagh,” I voice out my frustration before power-walking out of the room.

Though in other cases it might be impossible for me to move out of a room filled with hot naked women, my anger is exceeding all limits now to even care for such an important thing.

However weird it may sound but unlike the day of the System Ceremony, there is not even an ounce of fear inside me because of this new poison right now, only anger.

Outside the room, I move towards a small wardrobe that is standing directly in front of the room.

Remembering what the receptionist told me earlier, I place my hand in front of it and in the next moment, a faint green light shines before the wardrobe opens by itself to reveal my clothes inside.

Damn! I don’t even feel like appreciating how high-class this is…

Dressing up quickly into my jeans and shirt, I start walking towards the reception area.

“I hope you enjoyed your stay, sir!”

The busty receptionist greets me.

It could be understood how distracted I am right now by the fact that I just ignored a sexy mature babe just now and walked past her.

The moment I got out of the brothel, loud voices of people jeering and laughing enters my ears.

The sky is dark right now and this red-light district is bustling with people. Drunk men are roaming the streets and the prostitutes are trying their best to lure them inside their shops by flaunting their bodies to them.

It seems like I was inside for hours…

“Hey, wanna fuck my tight little cunt, baby? Only 50 Yeux….”

A fat and ugly looking prostitute asks me while nastily tapping her crotch.

I ignore her.

“I am 25 Yeux short from 100 guys! Let’s pool money and I will let you take on her ass while I fuck the pussy!” A bald guy yells towards the crowd while pointing at another prostitute outside a cheap brothel.

I ignored all of them and run out of the red-light district. After continuously running for a few minutes, I see a dimly illuminated park along the street which is completely empty.

A perfect place to be alone…

Without thinking for another second, I enter it.

“FUUUUCCCKKK,” I yell on top of my lungs.

Taking my SIS out from my pocket, I keep it in front of my eyes. The next moment, a black miasma kind of thing bursts out and my system’s level 2 description appears on thin air.

Fuck…

Never in my entire life, have I heard of a system having three fucking poisons in it.

And what is this “mission penalty”? And 1000 points? What the actual fuck?

I don’t even understand the concept of the mission. Isn’t that the same thing as a task?

The thing which is making me even angrier is the fact that level 2 would have been actually perfect without this third poison.

I mean, Mind Read?

This skill might probably prove as a lifesaver to me. The things I could do with it…

And the other passive skills are good as well even though their price is increased.

And the last but probably the most important thing, I can freaking learn magic now!

Like, really? Magic?

I only used to dream about what will happen if I could use magic someday and now I could learn it if I want…

But all these things are ruined by the freaking poison…

I look at the SIS clucked in my hand.

“This… This fucking broken thing…”

I put all my strength in my arm and throw the SIS as far as I possibly can.

The instant it disappears from my eyesight, I feel a small bulge appear in my pocket.

Fuck! I cannot even throw this damn thing away…

To let out my anger, I kick a can lying on the ground with all my power such that it gets bent from the middle before flying away from me…

{Ara… This much anger, master?}

Oh, so you are speaking again, you fucking asshole system!

No, seriously, what is this fuck dickery, huh?

{I apologize for the inconvenience, master. I admit this is my doing.}

Your doing? Obviously, it’s your doing! You are the system! You are trying to fuck with me, right?

{No, I am doing all of this for you, master. To make you live longer… and to make you more powerful.}

To make me live longer?

Wait, wait, wait… First of all, why are you talking to me like this? Speak normally!

{I am speaking normally, master. I just want to show you the respect you deserve.}

Woah, are you sick or something? Can systems even get sick?

Anyway, no, this is not normal at all. You haven’t insulted my penis even once in all this talking and you didn’t even say that I should bang more hot chicks…

{Why would I say those rude things to my master? I think you are talking about the other one. We are different.}

The other one?

{Yes, the one before me.}

Wait, this is all going over me. There are two of you? Seriously? Two systems with different personalities?

{That is… Well, I cannot say anything about what you asked, master. I am sorry. But please, listen. I won’t be able to stay for more than an hour before the other one returns. I still don’t have enough power to… well, anyway, before that happens, I need to tell you something.}

What?

{As I told you before, it is all added by me. This mission section and the poison as well.}

And why the fuck have you done that?

{Master, this is nothing but my plan to make you get more points. That’s why I added the mission section. Those missions are actually going to be a set of commands which you will have to follow. And after completing these sets of commands, your mission will be completed. The reward from them which you will get in the form of life points will be much more than any of your specific or permanent tasks gives you… Except a few.}

Having sex with a virgin, huh?

{Right, master.}

So, if you want to help me, why did you add the poison?

{I did not add the poison myself, master! Actually, to make such a big change in the system, some reciprocations or I should say, the defense mechanism will be activated as well.  And in this case, it’s in the form of a new poison. Believe me, It has more benefits than flaws.}

That is… Well… If it will be that useful in getting more points then I guess it’s fine…

{Good thinking, master! You are really amazing. Really intelligent!}

Seriously? Well, I do try to think over things…

{It shows… It shows, master.}

By the way, I can understand the “Making my life longer” thing you mentioned, but why do you want to make me stronger as well? What would you get from me becoming stronger? I will get stronger from the level ups but it sounds really strange coming from a system…

{Oh, I think the other one is coming back. I need to get out from here. But remember, don’t mention me to the other one, okay? It won’t do us any good at all. And by the way, I will see you really soon…}

{…when you will get the first mission.}

Chapter 49 – Unforeseen Situation

“Haah”

Max relaxedly leaned on the back seat of the car, closing his eyes reflecting about everything that happened and all the things that could have happened, contemplating whether he could’ve done something better, as there were still quite far away from home and he can’t do much sitting in there.

‘So tired.’

‘I think we tried everything that we can do at the party except playing at the pool. The food was good. If it wasn’t Xiao Ming’s party it might have been perfect, or not since this was my first time and I don’t know how it usually goes.’

‘Maybe I’ll try to go again next time with my sister but not at Xiao Ming’s party. After all, I don’t believe that he will have the time to host a party anytime soon.’

‘But surprisingly, those times with Lydia were fun! Our relationship became more like close friends from being friends. I guess that’s an improvement.’

‘I checked all the people I’ve seen in there but no one was an Awakened among them. They’re just mostly normal people which wasn’t what I expected.’

‘Alice was the only different one but based on my observation. Even though she has a sly personality, I feel like she genuinely thinks of Layla and Lydia as her friends. I just don’t know the reason why they were that close.’

‘But she had been sneakily glancing at me a few times back there. Did she really notice something from my Aura?’

‘The problem is that I lack the information about her Aura Reader Skill as I never expected to come across someone like her this early. I can only hope she isn’t an enemy as we don’t have any time for her right now.’

‘Then there’s that idiot, Xiao Ming. What a disgusting person. My image of him was entirely different from how he was in real life.’

‘I thought that he would be more like a playboy than an arrogant spoiled brat. He was also so stupid, too full of himself.’

‘And those people around him, aren’t they just sucking up to him? it’s so obvious what were they there for. Do they think they’re something?’

‘So arrogant, don’t they know that they’re just some disposable pieces? Forget about it, they’re nobodies, I’m just wasting my time thinking about them.’

‘But why did Xiao Ming try something with me? I don’t even know him and I’m sure I’ve never met him before. Does he offend anyone he sees?’

‘From what I’ve seen, he seemed to like Layla? Maybe he wanted to impress her? Hah, with his attitude? Most people around him were only there because of his money and power. No, more like his father’s money and power.’

‘Ahhh, his face is pissing me off so bad! He even dared to look at my women. If my sister isn’t logical, I would’ve sent him to the hospital and let him stay there for a couple of months.’

‘Should I have fought him? No there isn’t any logical reason for fighting him at his own house. That would be a stupid move.’

‘My sister also reminded me to not be provoked to fight. Hmm, but what she said makes sense. Did it come from her past experiences?’

‘And If I really think about it, I won’t achieve anything even if I won, it’s basically risking to expose myself for nothing. Most importantly, we don’t really need to attract attention to ourselves just to win.’

‘I should talk about this with my sister and ask her to team up with me in getting him back. We have the face mask to have a second identity.’

‘But I don’t think that’s enough. There should be some item that can even change our body size so that there will be no chance of other people finding out who we are.’

‘Currently, my sister is the only one I can fully trust. I’ll have to make full use of it to make overall better decisions by asking her thoughts on things.’

‘We will always be on the same side now and I’m not alone in planning like in the past so that should be good?’

‘The future is dangerous for us but also rewarding, especially now that I’ve met another Awakened. But I have a feeling that this was just the beginning.’

‘We need to stick together at all times and if possible add some other people to confide with as soon as possible.’

‘We also need a lot of money, so we can move freely anywhere and I just have the right plan on how we’re going to be very very rich!’

Max looked out the window as he considered the plan that he thought about, his eyes shining with playfulness.’

‘So later I’m going to ask my sister about everything she knows about Awakeneds, what they mostly do in their lives, what’s their priorities, the difference in mindset between them and normal people and a lot more other things.’

‘What else? Did I forgot something?’

“Are you alright Max?”

Layla checked him out on the front mirror. Seeing him with his eyes closed, she was worried that Max was thinking about Xiao Ming as he is just an ordinary person and Xiao Ming might be a powerful figure in his eyes.

“Just tired.”

“Sorry about Xiao Ming. He picks on anyone he sees so don’t worry about it. He won’t do anything else more than that.’

Layla thought maybe he was thinking about might happen to him so she gave him a few words to stop him from worrying.

‘Is he really worried about that? He doesn’t speak to people often maybe he’s also sensitive to harsh words?’

Max noticed that Layla and Lydia occasionally looking at him worriedly from the mirror. He was lost for words, not knowing what to say.

‘Hey! I’m an Awakened too! Don’t look at me like that. He’s really not bothering me! Ugh, if I can just tell the both of you about it.’

“He doesn’t really bother me you know.”

Max could only smile at them while laughing at himself inside as he couldn’t prove it in any way without exposing his Awakened identity.

Seeing that Max was really fine, Layla focused on herself as she had a bigger problem on her mind. She doesn’t know how to talk with Lydia about her relationship with Max.

Layla was conflicted, thinking if she should talk to her little sister about it or not. Moreover, she was afraid that when she told Lydia that her relationship with Max can’t continue anymore, Lydia might resent her for it.

But she felt like she should talk to Lydia regardless of what might happen as it will be dangerous for both of them if they didn’t stop.

Thinking about someone threatening her little sister by kidnapping Max really frightened her that she decided to just go and talk to her, explaining all her worries clearly one by one when they get home.

It was at that moment,
