The August sun burns my head.
As I walked down the street, regretting that I should’ve worn a hat, the cool-looking Nia in a plain T-shirt and shorts grabbed my arm and buzzed around.
「 Hey, look, look! What’s that? Weird! 」
「 Oh, that’s a sign for a place where you can play a sport called bowling. How about we go there next? 」
「 Oh, sure, I want to see! What are we going to do with that big white thing? I’m looking forward to it 」
Nia’s excited to see a sign in the shape of a huge bowling alley pin, which must be four or five meters high, set up on the other side of the road.
I’m happy to see them enjoying it and relieved that they think a pin that size comes straight out of the box.
I walked along smiling at her, and then Euphy touched my arm, from the opposite side.
「 Daiki-sama, what are those stones? 」
She’s wearing a simple one-piece dress and her blonde hair, which is brighter than usual in the sunlight, pours down from her head into a ponytail.
Gravestones lie on the other side of the fence.
「 Those are tombs. We bury the remains of people there 」
「 Huh? T-That’s a graveyard?! They put the remains in a city this big only in that enclosure? 」
「 That’s what happens when there’s no land. Is it that surprising? 」
「 But if the undead rise up… 」
「 In this world, they’re just imaginary 」
Well, in that world, if you leave a corpse alone, it turns into a zombie or skeleton.
It’s pretty nasty when you think about it.
Speaking of which, the first guys I killed were left as they were, maybe they got up and wandered around those woods?
Hmm, let’s not imagine that.
Today, I’m in Japan with the two for the first time in a long while.
We still need a few days of processing to get Euphy and Nia to the Academy.
It’s a place for children of royalty and nobility, so even if they were endorsed by a Marquis or Duke, the screening process is still done accordingly.
And so, we flew to my apartment interior, packed a few things in my magic bag, and headed to the warehouse on foot, partly to get them used to this world.
I slightly regret walking in this heat, but with two girls reacting so cutely to things, we soon arrived at our destination.
「 This is Daiki-nii’s new house? It’s big, but it looks old 」
Nia was licking the stick of vanilla ice cream coated in chocolate, a nice ice cream we bought at a convenience store on the way to the warehouse, then she looked up at it and shouted.
The cap almost fell off so I held it with my hand, she laughed it off and put it back on.
I thought it would be hard to wear a parka because of the heat, so I decided on a cap, but Nia’s ears are quite large so it’s hard to fit, and if I’m not careful, it can easily turn to this situation.
When I opened the door by the shutters and entered the warehouse, I found another minivan parked there in addition to the SUV that had been left there for me to drive as I pleased.
As soon as I noticed it, a man got out of the driver’s seat of the minivan.
「 Brother. Good day. Ojou wanted to come over, so we’re here to intrude 」
It was Ryo, someone who’s become familiar with me in Japan.
He approaches, pointing at a hand-held fan at himself.
You’d feel intimidated by his height that’s over 190cm when he’s standing directly in front of you, even though he’s someone I can easily take down.
Euphy and Nia were a little surprised at the appearance of a huge man, which isn’t often seen in the other world.
「 Why were you in the car? 」
「 You know, this is your safe house, so ignoring Ojou, I can’t be relaxing inside. Besides, she says that she can’t relax when I’m around 」
「 I see. If you’re fine with that, I won’t say anything 」
「 Yeah. It’s a little hot but the temperature is still bearable. So, who are these cute girls? 」
He looks at Euphy who is in her lady mode when in front of others, and Nia who went behind my back, looking at Ryo with a curious eye.
「 They’re my girls. Be polite to them 」
「 Huh? Oh, you’re a…well, a tinycon? 」
Ryo seemed to not understand what I told him, but when he came to his senses, he opened his eyes and took a step back.
「 My strike zone is just a little wider than most people, what’s wrong with it? 」
「 N-No, nothing, just surprised. I mean, where did you find girls this cute? They’re not some celebrities, are they? Are they foreigners? Can they speak Japanese? 」
「 Don’t pry too much. Also, don’t stare too much. Let me tell you something for your own good, try to make a move on them and your life is over, get it? 」
「 No, I’m not going to try to mess around with your companions. Besides, I’m not into that, no matter how cute they are! Spare me! Oh, isn’t it a bit childish to say that? 」
「 Don’t say it like that 」
It’s a natural reaction in our world, so I’m a little pissed off, but I’ll try to suppress it.
While I was having a conversation with Ryo, I heard the door open from the back.
Looking in that direction, I see Mirai coming down the stairs.
She saw Euphy and Nia and stopped nearby.
「 Hey, Mirai. You even came over 」
「 I mean, that’s what we talked about. Also, these girls are the ones you showed me on your phone before, right? 」
「 Yeah, they are 」
When I responded, she alternated her gaze between Euphy, who was quiet and observing our exchange, and Nia, who was still stuck behind me, smiling at the situation.
「 I have a lot to say, but how about we go inside for now? 」
「 I’m the one renting this place… 」
「 Don’t mind that. I’m the daughter of the owner anyway 」
Hey, why are you being a nasty landlord’s daughter now?
It may have been premature to give her permission to use this place.
I thought about complaining a little about Mirai’s attitude, but I want to get air conditioning as soon as possible.
I wasn’t convinced but as I was about to get into the living space, Ryo spoke to me.
「 You’re already here, so do I still have to wait outside? 」
「 Either way is fine, but if you want to stay cool, you can just let me take care of Mirai and stay outside 」
「 I feel at ease when you’re with her so please do. I’ll be heading off for now then. Just call me if you have any questions. I’ll be back soon 」
Ryo made a motion to grab something with his right hand and turn, then smiled and turned his back.
As usual, he has no hesitation in abandoning his duties.
As he drove away, the four of us went inside and sat on the L-shaped sofa.
Euphy and Nia sat on my side, while Mirai dominated the other line by herself.
I’ve been walking in the heat, so having an air-conditioned room is great.
I feel my thin, sweaty body cool down at once.
It seems the same is true for Euphy, grabbing the chest of her dress to send cold air into her clothes.
NIa seemed more interested in the interior and scurried around the room.
